So… how much?

As an actor myself, I understand the need for great headshots while not trying to wreck your budget. My prices are extremely fair and I’ll always strive to be as such. The end result has to be to get you opportunities to have more success. If the headshots won’t get you in doors then you have wasted money and time… and hope.

I’m currently offering Two Price Structures.

Many folks love the more Cinematic Headshots, but many also prefer the simpler variety against a colored or white seamless background.

The fact is that it is much easier and quicker to shoot the entire session against solid backdrops. Often it is one lighting set-up for the entire session. That is why I don’t feel it fair to charge the both.

On my Cinematic shots there are lots of things I’m adjusting per look. In fact, I may change things around several times within the same look to give more impact. So it takes much more time to accomplish those looks.

It’s not that one is necessarily “better.” It often just comes down to preferences. Of course, it is YOU who bring the magic! You have done your homework on what characters you want for the session, whether with your reps or just talking it through with me. Then I just try to light to accentuate your good work.

The point is that I’m now offering one price for sessions of all looks against solid backgrounds, while the other prices apply to the Cinematic approach.

Seamless Backgrounds

I have a number of different colored backgrounds from which we’ll choose, depending on character, wardrobe and mood.

$300

For this you’ll get up to one hour for 4-6 looks. This will include all usable, unedited hi res images and two of those retouched further.

$500

Cinematic Headshots

$395

For this you’ll get up to 1 1/2 hours and up to 3 looks. We’ll get lots of variety for those looks and I know that we’ll get what you want and need. ***

 $495

You’ll get 2 full hours to shoot all that with up to 4 looks for that time period. ***

$695

You’ll get up to 3-4 full hours of shooting.  We’ll shoot as many looks as we can get in during that time frame for your acting purposes. Understand, this is not a commercial shoot for which you can use these images for commercial gain, including ads, or even signings, etc. You’ll get up to 6 enhancements of your images, as well get all the usable, unedited images in high-res jpegs per password protected gallery on SmugMug.

This is for someone who wants to really attack their portfolio. Perhaps you’d need headshots, plus modeling poses, lifestyle, etc. This is also great for someone who may be building a brochure for themselves, or who just needs loads of headshots. This is not a commercial shoot, however. If you want to use for advertising there would be an additional  usage/licensing fee for that. ***

$50 per Actor Slate Shots

These are very short video clips used on actor sites to introduce the actor in their voice. Supposedly submissions with Slate Shots get viewed much more than those without. But that info is directly from those services.

$25  Basic Retouching of my own work. It varies for fixing others works.

Most images could benefit from a little retouching. Your photographer owns rights to the images and many are skilled retouchers, but many are not or simply do not offer retouches in their packages, especially in the L.A. market. I can’t speak for other markets. So, with their permission I can clean up things in images that will make them stand out more to make you to shine. The basic includes some flyaways, blemishes, brightening eyes, adjust background perhaps by a slight silhouetting, etc.  I will charge more for more extensive issues but we will discuss that in writing before I begin that work.
What I do not do is to make you look 10 years younger or 20 pounds lighter. You simply HAVE to look like YOU when you walk into the room. YOU are the right person for that job if they call you in and you look like your image!!! Believe that!

Also believe this: if someone tells you that they spend an hour retouching your headshot, then that headshot does NOT look like the person that’s gonna walk in the room. The photog should not be retouching like it’s for Vanity Fair when it’s an actor’s headshot. I can not stress enough how bad a mistake it is to try to fool the CD’s to get into the room. They have long memories for people who waste their time.

***All of the images are checked for color, contrast, sharpness and brightness to my taste before being uploaded to your online gallery. You’ll also get the number of enhanced images of your choice according to the package you choose, that will go further into editing for specifics, as well as being set up for print. This does not include excessive photoshop work. I will tell you if more work is needed. For example, my basic retouch does not include removing backgrounds, changing eye, hair or lipstick color, etc. I will not change your wardrobe, adjust neckline, remove jewelry, etc. In those cases you can either pay me for those services or go to your own retoucher. Some photographers do not allow outside retouchers but most in Los Angeles do, from my experience.

And, of course, you’ll get all the usable images in high-res jpegs per password protected gallery on SmugMug. They are downloadable for your use and viewing, if you wish.

Note: some of my studio work is with natural light in studio.

My Covid Pricing will change without notice, but booked

sessions will remain at priced at which they were booked.

I look forward to serving you again!

Ask me about sharing your sessions with a fellow actor. In some cases I’ll actually have two actors split the session to save themselves money. Those do have exceptions and limitations.

In each of the categories you’d be providing your own MUA, although I can certainly recommend some, if you’d like. You would pay them separately and independently from me. Also, in some circumstances I can come to you to shoot your headshot session, but there is an extra fee for that service and it would depend on travel time, time of day, etc.

***All of the images are the property of Jerry Giles Photography Headshots and inasmuch may be used on my website, blog or for promotional materials whether digital or print. When you post the images you must give “Photo by” credit to Jerry Giles Photography Headshots on all of your sites, Facebook or other types of social media. That’s very standard practice but I wanted to remind everyone. My goal is for my headshots of you to get you in doors… and for my headshots of you to bring others in my doors. That’s why I work so hard for you.

Thanks for reading, now go look at my images. I hope to hear from you!

I WANT to help your career by showing agents, managers and Casting Directors who you are, and give them a glimpse of what you’re capable of achieving through the headshots that we accomplish together.
